Bellroy

Bellroy is an Australian-based B-Corp luggage and accessories brand from Bells Beach and Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria. The brand was founded around a kitchen table in 2010 with the mission to help the world “carry better”. To promote their rugged adventure duffel bag–pack hybrid, the Venture Hauler Pack, they commissioned Access Adventure Productions to put a bag through its paces on a shoot.

What We Did

Some places make you work for them.

This one took ropes, a river crossing and a bit of bush bashing before it opened up into something out of a dream. Every frame here was earned, and every piece of gear got put through it.

Access Adventure Founder Alex Libby teamed up with frequent Australia-based collaborator Tervor King to create a more-than-capable two-person team for this production. Their end goal was a remote waterfall in the New South Wales hinterland, deep in a sub-tropical forest. Their hike-in and back was the story, more than the waterfall itself. Hiking, scrambling, a river crossing and hauling kit up short climbs put the pair and the bag through their paces in order to reach their destination.

“We got soaked the whole way, and the kit didn’t blink. The Venture Hauler Pack took every bit of mud and abuse this trip threw at it.”

This was a long shoot day, with Trevor shooting from the hip and reacting to the terrain and the conditions. There was no hard shot list to hit, save for some product shots and the waterfall at their destination; this was all reactive to the route and the adventure.
